Love-letter exchange
Also known as love letterswrite a letterread aloud
A love-letter exchange has each of you write something heartfelt, then read it aloud to the other — using words as intimacy before anything else, and leaving something you can keep.
The gist
Set aside time to each write the other a letter — what you love, a memory, a hope. Then read them aloud, face to face. Putting feelings into words you've actually thought about lands differently than saying them in passing, and reading them out loud is quietly vulnerable in the best way. You each keep a letter afterward.
Step by step
Agree to each write the other a letter, with a loose length or prompt if it helps.
Take your time writing separately — a day or two is fine.
Set aside a quiet moment to read them aloud to each other.
Keep the letters somewhere you'll find them again later.
Tips
- Handwritten adds a lot — it's slower, more personal, and keepable.
- A gentle prompt ('a moment I felt closest to you') makes the blank page easier.
