Position

Prone

Also known as lying down flatface-downprone bone

Prone is a rear-facing position where the receiving partner lies flat on their front and the other lies over them — a lower-effort, full-body-contact variation on rear entry.

The gist

A gentle, grounded position with lots of skin-to-skin contact and very little effort required from the partner underneath. Lying flat naturally makes the angle shallower than kneeling rear entry, which many people find more comfortable. A pillow under the hips lifts the angle if desired.

Step by step

  1. The receiving partner lies flat and relaxed on their front.

  2. The other partner lies over them, supporting some weight on the arms.

  3. Slide a pillow under the hips to lift the angle if you'd like more.

  4. Keep the pace slow — the full-body contact does a lot of the work.

Tips

  • Because it's low-effort for the receiving partner, it's a lovely option on a tired or lazy day.
  • Mind your weight distribution so the partner underneath can breathe and move easily.
