Position

The Eagle

Also known as spread eagleeagle position

The receiving partner lies on their back and raises both legs, spreading them wide into a V while the other partner is on top — open, exposed, and face-to-face.

The gist

The Eagle keeps the eye contact and closeness of missionary but opens things up: the receiving partner spreads their legs wide into a V (sometimes held there by their partner's hands), which changes the angle and the sense of exposure. Holding the legs wide takes a little core and flexibility, so ease into it and swap to a more relaxed spread whenever you want. Consent and pacing matter — being held open is a vulnerable, trusting position.

Step by step

  1. The receiving partner lies on their back and raises both legs into a wide V.

  2. The other partner settles on top, optionally supporting or holding the thighs wide.

  3. Find a comfortable spread — wider isn't better, comfortable is.

  4. Keep talking; it's an open, exposed angle, so check in on pace and pressure.

Tips

  • Whoever is holding the legs is in a position of trust — go at the receiver's pace and let go the instant they ask.
  • A rolled towel under the lower back can make the wide angle easier to hold.
